International Academy of Education
the leader of Armenia’s private education

In 2006, Yerevan Haybusak University, Armenian Open University after L. Kalashyan, International Relations Institute after H. Lazaryan, and Yerevan Haybusak University base College joined into a structure called International Academy of Education in order to provide for better and more up-to-date education.

Ever since private education became possible in Armenia after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Declaration of Independence, each of these academic institutions has gone its own way and has contributed to the development of the private academic sector in its own way.

Their joint efforts, it is hoped, will be even more efficient, especially now that the educational system of the whole Europe is changing and we have to adopt the new strategies and principles of the Bologna treaty. Some foreign universities are also members of the IAE, such as Moscow Publishing University.

The instruction in the IAE is carried out in three languages, Armenian, Russian and English, for our foreign students who do not speak Armenian.

Yerevan Haybusak University was founded in 1990 by Academician L. Harutyunyan, thus becoming one of the first private universities of the newly-independent Armenia. The 17-year-old university has about 5400 students, 6000 alumni, 300 teachers (among them 48 Professors, 64 PhD, 12 Academicians) and is developing rapidly. The university was granted state accreditation in 2001.

The graduates are entitled to work all over the world: in Armenia, CIS, Europe, USA, etc.

The Armenian Open University after L. Kalashyan was founded in 1990 by Academician L. Kalashyan and, like Haybusak, was one of the first private universities in Armenia. Since then, it has developed into a well-recognised and state-accredited (2001) university with and three big faculties:

Pedagogy and Psychology Faculty graduates are entitled to work in schools and other educational institutions. The Applied Arts Faculty graduates have gained considerable recognition in different parts of the world. Many of them work for big companies, participate in international exhibitions and organise individual ones. In 2005, 2006, 2007 the university has won an international grant project in Fine Arts.

International Relations and Oriental Studies Institute after H. Lazaryan was founded in 1997 by Prof. Astabatyan. In 2003, it joined Haybusak University, and afterwards in 2006 it became a member of the International Academy of Education.

The Institute has three faculties:

The Institute is accredited by the state (2006), and its alumni work both in Armenia and abroad.
